A quick thought here based on a business background rather than social justice....

The democratic candidates for president are endorsing health care for illegal immigrants, apparently healthcare for the world--just get across the border (provided there would still be a border).

And you thought you were busy now? The newly hired will be held to the latest social justice fairness thinking (or rather, feelings) about what needs to qualify as job qualifications. The competent will have an increasing burden as the incompetent become more numerous in the ranks. Once private industry is run out and replaced by government run healthcare, no one gets fired.

And funding-wise, a tax scheme on the wealthy right?

But in time wages will also drop via one cost savings measure or another as there will be a push-back on ever increasing taxes. Evolving technologies will be slowed or hamstrung due to available funding.

It may depend how they do it, medicare for example isn't accepted by all doctors. This could be the same thing, they get insurance (hope not), but that insurance is hard to use.

One side thought, since they essentially get it now by going to the emergency room, this could have a good side.

Won’t be good for anyone involved. I myself would go do something different all together, as would numerous coworkers of mine. I already see 30% uninsured patients that never pay the bill, not even a copay. I love working emergency medicine, but not that much. So imagine what the gov would pay me for doing a high stress, very busy, sometimes dangerous job (psych patients attack staff at my facility on a weekly basis). There is already a true shortage of healthcare providers like myself. Would only get worse. I know of the 8 docs staffing the Er I work in, 3 would retire and they are only 50-54 years old. Emergency medicine physicians aren’t a dime a dozen I assure you.

Total system collapse would happen I believe

My wife works in the ER, what I know is it’s the catch all for the uninsured and Medicaid patients who can’t/ won’t pay the co-pay for a regular office visit. The ER will see anyone regardless of ability to pay.

The idea behind Medicaid for illegals is really just shifting some of the burden of non payers to Medicaid payers. The problem with government payers (Medicaid, Medicare, VA) is they only pay a portion of the real cost, the rest is made up for by private insurers paying more than they should.

If the . gov becomes any larger segment of healthcare insurance, quality of service will greatly diminish. Hospitals live by the mix of gov/private/non-payers. The more private payers you have the better the hospital.

No good side. The demoncrap's will make sure the free access is very available, to protect their voting meal ticket, and to encourage more to flood our borders.

Libs won't be happy until we are just another chit-hole country. I believe it is inevitable.

The stink is rising, and probably unstoppable by political means.

Those that think another physical revolution is coming (however necessary) to restore us to what was or should be, are dreaming. That would take organization, and any such beginnings would be put down. Hard. "Popular uprising"? HA!

You know the labels the MSM, politicos, FBI, ATF, etc would put on any such effort. We have examples already.. both of labeling and put-downs.

I likely won't live to see the worst of it, thank you.

It's easy for states to force doctors and hospitals to take whatever. It happened in Mass. where the licensing Board required doctors to accept Medicare or not have a license. It all has to do with control via licensing.

Essentially same as taxes.

I've seen signs at local doctors that say "no longer accepting new medicaid/medicare patients". Seeing how little the gov pays doctors I'm not shocked. The hospital lobby is the ones really pushing this, a little is better than nothing. The big $$ losses are in uninsured accidents and heart issues, that can run a million bucks pretty quick. It's not about the poor children, it's about $$ for hospitals.

If government subsidized universal healthcare were to ever really happen, I strongly suspect it wouldn't be very much different than their failed Obamacare.

The only ones I know of that actually benefited with it were those who were either already on or would've qualified for free/low cost health care via regular Medicaid low income programs anyway.

For all the fearmongers posting on this thread, a question:

How is it that countries like Canada, France, England, Germany etc I can cross their borders and if I get in a wreck the will save my ass for next to nothing compared to here?

They don't. My buddy who is a cardiologist in Detroit says after 4:30 pm if you have a heart attack in canada, you are SOL. He's saved a bunch of canadians lives cause they come across the border for their caths.

On a broader scale, I know many MD practices that could not afford to stay open if they only had medicare rate reimbursement. Its not true for all specialties but is the reason why many won't take it anymore.

In my case, the hospital charged my insurance company. When my insurance company refused the bill due to my not notifying them I was traveling out of the country before I left, I got the bill.

Your income must be much higher than mine as X-rays, 27 stitches, and 24 hours of "observation" in the so called ER was more than "next to nothing" even after taking into account an exchange rate of 63 cents US to the Canadian dollar.

I don't see how any dr can afford to take Medicare of Medicaid. I just looked it up and if I read it right, Texas Medicaid pays $14 for an office visit, even if you can cut one down to 10 minutes, there's still no way the dr is covering staff, ultilities, rent, etc out of that.

Govt wants complete control and with such comes rationing.

Death panels that Obummer favored weren’t a joke. If at a certain age, one is no longer considered an asset to society, it’s morphine palliation and hospice, no expensive procedures.

And guess who decides ....

Yep, you guessed right. It’s all about the collective and the ruling class, NOT the individual.

Welcome to socialism, ya gonna really love it.

Canadian health "tourism" is a big business. Canadians who can afford to come to the US for surgery. Knee's, hips, heart issues, cancer. If you live in canada, you have to wait for health services, sometimes until your dead. Our local hospital does a chitload of ortho surgery for canadians. Nothing like hobbling around for a year to wait your turn.

I’ll tell you what I think would happen to the point I’d even bet the farm on it (though I have no farm). First of all these D candidates are either the dimmest of bulbs, or they are the most delusional, or they or lying, or some combination of those, who say “free healthcare for all incl illegal immigrants” and then just leave it there. And I come from the health care industry as a provider in anesthesia and pain management services in a regional hospital.

At least B.S. (his initials are very telling) ADMITS to taxing the middle class which is everybody! everybody here! And “taxing ” is a gross understatement. (1) This would probably crater the American economy. (2). This would destroy health care as you know it. And this is just about health care but you can then extrapolate it, to absolutely everything else.

Picture the VA system 2.0 or 3.0. Picture the UK, or Canada — maybe these are the very best of scenarios — with six months or longer waiting periods for diagnosis of cancer or heart disease, or whatever. This means long lines for diagnosis let alone treatment by a few providers some of whom are most likely incapable of private, competitive service. They will be retained (no firing in this system) but could not make it in a competitive environment.

Here’s their’s — the D’s — assumption — attrition by death while waiting. Of course they don’t take into account the suffering in the meantime. While waiting for treatment in a “universal health care system” many will die reducing pressure on the system.

Ask yourself why many Canadians, Europeans, etc, come here for their health care treatment now and have for decades. The Shah of Iran flew his private jet into Rochester, Mn (the Mayo Climic) for his cancer treatment in the 60’s and 70’s.

That’ll be gone. If the D’s win, it gone.

The D’s are off the rails with their Marxism but be very sure you explain it your family and relatives.
