Does anyone know what calibers the Colt Lightning pumps were made in? I never new they made large caliber pump guns. Seems like they would have been a little faster than the Winchester lever guns, especially in pistol calibers.

Seems like they would have been a little faster than the Winchester lever guns, especially in pistol calibers. The medium-frame Colt Lightning Magazine Rifle was manufactured between 1884 and 1904. It was the first slide-action rifle offered by Colt. Colt records indicate 89,777 were produced, in .32-20, .38-40, and .44-40 as a companion arm to the Colt Single Action Army revolver. Two versions were offered: a rifle with a 26 in barrel and 15-round magazine, and a carbine with a 20 in barrel and 12-round magazine. The small-frame Lightning (also referred to as "Second Model Colt Lightning" was the first rimfire rifle made by Colt and was manufactured between 1887 and 1904 as a plinking and gallery gun. Colt records indicate 89,912 were made, in .22 Short and .22 Long. Barrel length was 24 in and the rifles had a blued finish, case-hardened hammer, and a walnut stock. The large-frame Lightning was manufactured between 1887 and 1894. Colt records indicate 6,496 were made in different big game calibers such as .38-56-255, 40-60-260, 45-85 and .50-95 Express. Very nice display; would love to see it at our shows. It could take the place of some of the jewelry, stun guns, and "You're Not a Real American if You Don't Pay to Join Our Group" tables.

Pass the 4 3/4" .44 cal. Peacemaker please... There is something cool about the 4 3/4 inch guns, I still prefer the 7 1/2 inch for shooting. This 3 3/4 inch gun with Bisley hammer is over the top in cool. As handsome as a Colt SAA is, I just can't warm up to a 5 1/2 inch gun... ![[Linked Image]](http://i.imgur.com/7X8U4ik.jpg)

Shrap, I agree about the 5 1/2" SAA. Would be my last choice. Neat Bisley hammered short barrel.

Shrap, I agree about the 5 1/2" SAA.
Would be my last choice. For feel; they have the best balance.
