Forget the Remington and the hideous stock. Buy a CZ 527, new ones have 1 in 9 twist and the rifle is scaled to small cartridges.

If weight doesn't matter the RPR would be one to look at. Opens lots of doors.

An AR isn't a bad route to go either.

Ruger American's are decent for the $.

For me, a light to sporter weight stainless bolt action is my favorite and I have no interest if it isn't twisted fast enough to shoot long 75's. My preference would be to wait on Barrett to put the .223 Fieldcraft out but I like light weight.

For affordable optics it's really hard to beat SWFA's SS scopes. Several different power ranges to choose from, the 6x and 10x are the most bang for the $ anywhere.
