Haven't used them in awhile. How do you guys like them on fur at moderate ( .222) velocities?

OK..next question...will it stabilize in a 1 in 14 twist?

I’ve put them through bobcats out of a 22-250 and had reasonable sized exits, 1”-1 1/2” round holes. From slower rounds, 222mag and 223, they penetrate and behave pretty civilized. I’ve killed plenty of pigs and coyotes with them in those two rounds and never had any big exits or splashes that I recall. They almost always exit coyotes and broadside pigs up to about 150lb but usually give a nice round hole 3/4” to 1” diameter. I have seen them get ugly at 22-250 speeds on close up coyotes if they’re run into the shoulder.

I'll be using them on coyotes, bobcats, and fox with the lighter gun, and they sound like just the ticket...

At Swift velocities they stabilize wonderfully. My 77V Tang safety LOVES them at just a click or two under 4200 fps. They will, however separate an adult 'chuck into 2 pieces and usually, completely eviscerate a coyote.

I know a fellow who was electrocuting pest permit deer with them out of a slow twist 22-250. He said they just tipped over and twitched a couple of times.

I load the 50 gr. NBT for my CZ 527 with a 12 twist. 25.0 grains of IMR 3031 and I've used it to kill several mouflon/barbado sheep crosses on our lease. All have been one shot kills and DRT.

Dang, I wish you were asking about a .223.

P They'll work in any .223 with a 12 inch or less twist...no problemo

I'll have to go abck and check my load data, but if memory serves me correct my 25.0 gr of IMR 3031 and a Remington 7-1/2 was getting 2790 fps out of the CZ 527's 22" barrel. Dang, I need to break out the chrono again.

Is there a scenario where a 50 grain BT won't work, at .222 velocities?
