Same old story.screw the rifle hunters, but give archery hunters everything they wanted

Thanks for posting that WAM. I don't understand how adding a longer time between seasons changes anything. After the second day of first season the elk head for private land...and stay there. Not like the elk will yell "all-clear" to each other and run 30 miles up the hill after the 5-day shooting volley of first season (or any season) ends. Saddlesore, what changed for archery other than the dates?

It does seem slanted towards the bowhunters. And having 4th season shortened to 5 days makes it more of a gamble depending on weather. Pay more, hunt fewer days it would appear. No worries, leaves more time for bird hunting.

I don’t think outfitters will be happy with that new season structure. Some split the current 9-day seasons into two 4-day seasons for more client numbers. I don’t know enough about state-wide elk dispersal to judge if the longer breaks will do any good or not. I liked the 9-day seasons, but it is what it is. Nobody gives a darn about what non-residents think anyway. 😎. Happy Trails

Really sucks for people who use 2nd Rifle OTC as a fall back, a Wednesday through Tuesday 2nd rifle season is hell on vacation days. 3rd rifle may become more popular as a result.

As late as those rifle seasons are in a few years you'll play hell to find a buck over 3.5yrs old in the state. CP&W will claim mission accomplished, and the CWD infection rate will not have wavered an inch.

I've hunted 3rd season for years but looking over the new dates that will be all over as the new season structure will overlap Missouri's rifle deer season.
Looks like I will have to re group
