Well from what research I’ve done and I’ve done a lot, this seems to be a pretty rare specimen. After talking to a few 99 guys on here as well as some savage forums this is what I’ve come up with. The gun is a 1974 uncatalogued model. I was told savage did a small run with a 24” barrel and C wood. Has the aluminum counter, rotary magazine and tang safety. Gun is in amazing condition. I was told that the stock and forend may have been refinished(I have no clue). There is also a mark on the outside of the barrel(does not affect the crown at all). Blueing and wood is perfect! No cracks in the normal 99 spots. I’ve been looking for a month on research trying to decide on what to ask for it and I only found 2 other of these rifles so I know it’s authentic and not parts thrown together. It is stamped Mod 99 series A. I’m asking $1500 shipped and insured in a hard case to your FFL. I can send more pics or answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. It's a handsome rifle.
Good luck with your sale.

Now I wish I had not sold mine to a friend for $150.00 in the early 90's. What the hell is wrong with me?
That is a beautiful of a rifle to this old guy.
