While not dependent on Social Security I sure as hell want my share back. After paying into that sinkhole for 40 years I am not going to just let it go away.

I want mine back too. All of it.
How conservative of you guys...
Fire up the presses, kick the can down the road and maybe this socialism will fix itself. That'll show 'em.

Seems to me that by taking what I'm owed I'll be helping you out with your "conservative" concerns. The more I get the faster SS fails. Thank me later.
Somebody needs to pay for her 15 kids, lets start a go fund the .......... with 15 kids go fund me page. We can start collecting money for her on the campfire. How much could we collect to help her out??
Needing SS is subjective. In my opinion, anyone including Bill Gates has been paying into SS for decades, he is entitled to the benefits as well. It's not my place to decide if he needs it or not. The rules apply to everyone equally.
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."

The prevailing notion is to print more money....SS will fail at the same time the currency is worthless. There is no "conservative" when socialist policy is in question. There are those who want their money that isn't there and they are in the same camp as those who wish to kick the can until everything is worthless.

So I'm supposed to roll over and give up all the money I paid in while the Congress continues to hand out to those who never paid, business, agriculture, foreign countries, illegal aliens, and anyone else with their hand out? No thanks Twinkletoes. Fix all that, and then we can talk.
Well Pappy of course you are supposed to do that. It’s the (white )thing to do. In the meantime all the non workers get more and more. Fun them and their horse. If we give up SS they will gladly give it to all the new Dem wetbacks. Nope Ain’t gonna do it. Ed k

I'm beginning to have the same selfish attitude.
I'm supposed to fund a broke system that I wont see? [bleep] you boomers.....

SSI is simply an insurance policy no different than car insurance. Everyone pays, some never collect, some collect a lot more than they paid in. In theory there isn't anything wrong with it, but major changes should have been made 30-40 years ago. But no politician has the guts to do what is right. An insurance company can't stay in business charging 1940's insurance rates and paying out in 2019 money. Relatively small increases done 30 years ago along with small reductions in benefits would have made a huge difference in the program today. The program can still work, but the longer politicians wait to do the right thing the bigger the rate increases will need to be and the deeper the cuts in benefits.
And I believe people should have the ability to opt out, or at least have options for different levels of benefits and payments. It can be there for those who want it, those who don't can sign up for more limited benefits at reduced prices or not pay in at all.
I'll be 62 in Feb and will start collecting then. Unless something terribly wrong happens it should be around for the rest of my life. My kids will almost surely see reduced benefits and probably higher rates before they are old enough to retire.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.
