Are they still produced as components? Can't find them in the US.

I don’t know but just looking around, I can’t believe how many more (and good) 9.3 bullets there are since I had my 9.3x74

There are some really good bullets to shoot in 9.3.

250 TSX are super. The H-Mantles group so well and were just deadly when I used them in Africa. One shot cape buffalo kills, sable etc.

The H-mantel bullet came along well before Nosler's famous bullet, and it gained a good reputation in Africa in the mid to late 1930's. It has been improved due to better metallurgy and some design changes. IMO the Partition is a better bullet for thick skinned nasties. The forward part of the H-mantel is pretty soft.

This is an earlier post-war H-mantel with the cutting edge to penetrate hair better. They no longer use the cutting edge. This is a 9,3X74R

best regards from the old continent. As far as I know, the H-Mantel was never intended for thickskinned game but rather deer sized critters.

The job of thick skinned game was left to the TUG Bullet (Torpedo Universal Geschoss by Wilhelm Brenneke; produced and loaded under licence by RWS until just about 10-15 years ago).
This seems to me the bullet shown by luvtosafari above.

The TUG is still produced both by RWS (sold under the name UNI Classic) and by Brenneke GmbH, Langenhagen.
Both can be bought here as components in Germany.

It could well be the TUG, but the H-mantel lead soft point of the past also looked the same at the front.

It went through several incarnations and at one time looked like the TUG, as did the TIG. The TUG is a far better thick skinned animal bullet than the H-mantel, IMO.

S&B are using a RWS type H mantle in their loaded ammo.

I used the old style in 8mm in surplus Mausers and I thought they were magical (as a kid). This German Co. still lists them, most of the new ones are the capped point type. https://en.strobl.cz/bullets-rws-rifle/ not sure about exporting them. Huntingtons imports the brass and in the past I believe the bullets as well. Midway sells some ammo but not the full line. Probably due to high costs there isn't more of a market here. RWS Ruag developed several interesting bullets and had a dual core design long before Speer did.

I bet John Nosler was aware of the H mantel as it came out some 13 years before he developed the partition.
