I never hunted where they had game personnel. Was it a hunt on a military reservation?

Blackheart. Id like to know what real hunting is, i guess. You can head out on foot here andgo afew miles sneak hunting and if you cut a good track you can take it up. Its pretty hard to spot a muley in its bed and shoot before its got afterburners going and pretty hard to get a kill shot on one of them most times..

It takes a pretty good indian to track a deer down in lovegrass country. Its a bit easier in this stuff.

About 2 in when i shot 2 sows and left about 12 piglets for the coyotes. Deer get up on thes sandhills a look around for 2 legged coyotes. The can see you at 800 yds. and take evasive action if youre on their trail
If they are laying in the high grass under a bush and see you they lay down and let you walk by. If ur direction of trave doesnt put you real close, sometimes withing 15 yards depending on the cover, they wontbust and you never see them. You can plan on walking a couple hundredmiles or so to walk over a bedded buck.


You can sneak hunt the deer in this switchcane bottom in East Texas too.

How much is your lease per year?

Nope. We have four National Forests, lots of ACOE and State Type II public land within an hour of me. I bitch about people that think public places are their sole possession and believe the Federal Government is their savior.

"Owning" a river or beach is the same as those gated roads on private property that prohibit sole access to somewhere you have a right to be.

I pay no money. I have, by the grace of God, saved some peoples, or their relatives, eye from disease or injury or just became friends over years of treating their chronic ocular condition.

Often it has resulted in my hunting less than prime or top quality places for many years or i have been restricted only to does or small bucks or only birds and varmints.

Many years ago i often had no place to hunt other than some friends and relatives places in E Texas. Later, i did pay something like $1000 on a place a few years for turkey spring and fall, 4-5 deer with one to be a good buck and one cull, dove, quail, ..

AFAIC we all pay some price for our overpopulation whether to draw a tag or lease quality hunting.

Texas land owners are able to manage their game by cutting predator populations through effective methods.

Never set foot in the state, but knows all about hunting in Texas. Just like he knows all about hunting the Mountain west, even though he's never done it.

Muzzies own all the gas stations down here too. My wife is 6% middle eastern somehow. When she gives me a hard time, I tell her I’m going down to the gas station, get one of her uncles, bring him home to straighten her ass out.

if CCL you can carry on fed land. At least on the national seashore here.

I carry on (Fed) North Padre Seashore once a week or so whilst fishing or suntanning my weenie but that wasn’t the topic of discussion. Sure you can blast a human but you can’t jerk it on a game animal. And, I cannot carry it on the Navy installations (Fed) around the area because they don’t recognize CC. So I can’t go on base to buy a snapple or sunblock for my weenie. Its either or each trip or I just don’t carry.

I will concede there are a few public lands in Texas that are monitored by less game personnel and one is lucky if they live next to it. I can be at my personal land (1,500 acres, 4 creeks, trees) three states away faster than I can travel across Texas to other than optimal public land.

You may not realize it but there is a healthy population of good hardworking mexicans in Texas and many who contribute greatly in our nations military endeavors with no hx of turning on our forces when engaged with the enemy in the middle east.

After reading about this depressing topic here, I'm leaving Texas and moving to Florida where I can hunt lizards or to Minnysoda where I can hopefully befriend some liberal immigrants to hunt and fish with.

Texas sucks........... Especially the non-rural/country part of it.

Like I said previously, the idiocy and ignorance on this subject is absolutely amazing.

Gotta agree with the uninformed though, hunting giant mule deer for 3 months a year, pre-rut, then the rut, then post rut, strictly pasture country with no ag, feed etc, no other hunters and relatively few roads, really does suck. I mean what hunter in their right mind would want to endure that crap? Oh, Dr. jag didn't bother to inform the idots that he hunted those bucks, pre rut, and knocked down a 240+" monster a few years ago........via old fashioned tracking him down to his bed and good shooting.......

Keep telling us those Texas hunting stories boys......they are pure gold.

In fairness, I do sorta like parts of West Texas as well as the panhandle.
