Did it really not heat your house as much?

You have been remembering to close the door on your oven haven't you?

Yes it would have but I saved it to use for the gravy in this dish I plan to make tomorrow.

I'll cook it on top of the stove too.

HAHA......that is something I would do but in this case it really did keep the heat down.

Oooookay. Thats what you meant by grinding.

Hash is easy to make Jim. Course grind the left over roast and onions.....if there's any carrots left I grind them too but that's optional. The potato's seem to turn to mush when ground so I dice em fine by hand. Add some spices and mix it up......I use a little nutmeg and cayenne but use what you like.

Throw some in a frying pan and brown it real well......a splash of 1/2 & 1/2 at the end and press it into a patty.

Top with fried eggs and hot sauce.

You guys are an inspiration. Wouldn't be the first time that pics like above have me draggin' out the grocery list and adding to it based on a tasty looking thread.

Not this time tho'. Both my freezers are full to the top and it's too damn hot to cook. laugh

Gonna be cold soups, cool summer sammies, salads, and sweet tea for awhile.

The old timers here had a separate cook shack for summer time.

We have an outside kitchen set up.

Three burner camp stove, kettle grill, gas grill, smoker and a turkey cooker.

Cold food is for animals!

Thanks Paul......it's really just a skillet and an old lid but it works great for small stuff.

I'm on my way to town to get some spuds today so I can turn it into hash tomorrow......can't wait.

Well.....I turned the rest of the roast into Hash today.

I also made a small batch of Hunters Sausage while I had the grinder set up.

I'm not sure which is better.....having a month or more's breakfast fixings in the freezer or the fact that I had to drink a beer before noon (the sausage recipe calls for 1/2 cup of beer and I couldn't see wasting the rest)

That's about half of the hash....the rest is in the freezer.

It was only 2 lb's and I ate some of it......I think the picture makes things look bigger than they are.

The Sausage patties look like burgers but they're only about 2.5 oz's.
