Just had rats or mice chew up $1100 worth of wiring in a pickup and this is a daily driver!
Poison is out of the question. Dogs and cats are getting their share, so are the traps.
How can I keep them out of my vehicles????

Some of the farm stores, and the tractor dealerships, sell a product that's designed for tractor and combine cabs, that supposedly keeps them away. Don't know it wouldn't work on a vehicle.

Set a bunch of traps inside the cab and inside the engine compartment baited with peanut butter
If God wanted you to walk and carry things on your back, He would not have invented stirrups and pack saddles

Curious what kind of vehicle it is. I worry about mine setting in a closed barn all the time but have never had an issue. Knock on wood! The barn cat can't get into that barn. Not that the worthless POS would kill any mice anyway. I wonder if leaving the truck outside would be best? It would be hard on the paint, tires and interior but not as likely that rodents would mess with it.
Didn't some manufactures use a soybean or some such material in their wire looms for a while? Rodents apparently loved to chew on it.

Keep a bag of Tomcat blocks on hand at all times and RELIGIOUSLY keep an ample number of them chucked behind stuff (up against a wall like tool cabinets, shelving, etc) where the kids or dog won't get a hold of them. Screw the little mouse house that comes in the bag.......the one you're supposed to put the blocks in. Toss em straight on the floor behind something.

Yes the environmentalist made the vehicle mfg switch to the soybean type insulation. I don't know what year it started. I have a 2016 Tacoma that has this type of insulation, My 2001 Ford Ranger sits a few yards away an is untouched.
A few neighbor are leaving the hoods open on their vehicles an claim it works. My mechanic says to install LED lights under the hood, because they don't like the lights.
In my travel trailer I am using Bounce Dryer Sheets and that seems to keep them out.
I'll do more research on the old inter web.

So it was the Tacoma that got chewed on? Was it outside or in a building? I had no trouble with my 2002 Ford diesel in over 17 years. I'm worried about the current 2019 Tundra that is now sitting in the same barn most of the time.

That stuff is called fresh cab.... Nothing beats a bunch of cats but I hate those tcats spraying everything.... We live a half mile from a 3 mil bu corn bunker so there is never a shortage of mice and rats...cats can't keep up...so it's fresh cab ,cats and lots of poison...

I am going to try a device called "l Mouse Blocker"

I think the mice thought they were installed as fine dining music....

I've heard Irish spring bar soap deters them. We use a natural bag of fragrances that we get at local farm store. Barry

Set out bucket traps. They catch the hell out of mice and chipmunks. Not uncommon to catch several every night
