If, for whatever reason, there be a shooting war occur in the Strait and ships no longer safely passing through the Strait or up to Iran setting of a nuclear weapon in the middle of it as a last gasp middle finger to the world as it goes down rendering the Strait no longer safe to traverse that oil through that Strait could make everyone's life across the globe sporty.

No Mexican army has invaded our border. That would be a invasion and a real war.
The illegal invasion is not in our national interest and Trump is doing something about that. Mexico is learning that it is not in their national interest either. Numbers are finally beginning to move down. Trump is even getting a small start on the Wall.

I heard that the British war ship that prevented the first Iranian hijacking attempt of a tanker was an hour away from the latest hijacking.
UK needs to get more of their Navy involved if they want to keep Iran from hijacking their ships.
These things can be prevented as the UK has demonstrated. Just gotta be where the action is, not an hour away.
How about a couple more war ships in the area, like a ship carrying choppers or Harriers?. An hour away by boat would be just a few minutes away by air.

Say our government took a leadership role in developing clean energy as it did for nukes or space travel, and made the tech affordable to the world. How long would these middle eastern countries have any ability to be a nuisance?

Some countries and cultures need dictators to keep order. It's not right for all, and democracy isn't the answer for all or even many. The neocons see these dictators as "morality" targets in their propaganda blitzes to rally public support for spending our national treasure and spilling our national treasure on the battlefields to further their interests.
