Then they can suffer the results of their “convenience”. If a USA tanker wants to register out of the country to screw the US out of fees tough sh*t for them. The Brits have a military, so does UAE.
We need to keep our nose out of it until one of our tankers waving our flag is hit.

I can easily see where defense and support of American merchant vessels is in our direct national interest. BUT, we don't need to jump into any more middle eastern conflicts if they can be avoided and fought other ways than military action. If that's not possible, then use overwhelming force and end things fast.
