A severe case of "Get there itis". Trust your instruments and not your head. I took off one night from an airport that had a tall hill at the north end. This required me to have a high level of attack. I got the strange feeling the plane was turning and I needed to correct. My instruments said I was OK. When I finally lowered the nose I was wings level. Spatial disorientation is a terrible condition andd to overcome it you must your instruments and not your head.

Kennedy made a lot of mistakes that night and it cost him dearly.
