Spray your legs with deep woods off to kill the little buggers.

then - to kill the itch, blow dryer as hot as you can stand it on anything that itches.

The heat breaks down the proteins causing the itch... it works.

It may take multiple doses of a really hot blow dryer, but it’s well worth it - alternatively people heat up a spoon with super hot water and press it to the itchy spot.

chiggerex if you get em.

Bleach water.

I have not had them in a long time but I suspect any tube of anti itch with lidocaine in it too., Benezocane does nothing for itching for me ever. Or killing the sting of bug bites/stings

Treat your clothes with Permerthrin. It will last a lot of washings.

If you get a bunch, put 2-3 caps of old time dark Lysol in a tub (just to cover your thighs) of WARM water and sit for about 20 min. rinse off and wait for the itching to stop. Feels great.

Yes, Permanone or Duranon (different brand names for the same product) are the best repellents.

It also helps to take a shower as soon as possible after any potential exposure since it often takes them a few hours to settle in for a meal.

Best I've found is Suave powder stick deodorant in the blue containers. Usually have to apply it twice, but it gets the little critters fairly quickly. Don't substitute the Secret brand as it burns you where you really don't want to be burned (and where the chiggers usually head for). We keep 2 or 3 containers in the medicine drawers. Have also used the Lysol method per Docbill, when I used to dove hunt a long time ago with a cousin up in North Texas. It works, but find the Suave a whole lot easier.

The itching is caused by an allergic reaction to the breathing tube the dead chigger left behind. Take benadryl, and rub benadryl cream on the bites. Then use a blow dryer to heat the bites causing the mast cells to de-granulate and release all of their Histamine at once. Will itch like crazy for a few seconds but will fade. No more itching until the mast cells replenish their supply of histamine usually a couple of hours relief.

Thanks. I’ll have to give that a try.
