I was checking out the gun dept at the local Scheels, when a used Steyr SBS caught my eye. I picked it up and noticed they had marked it down to $440 from their original price of $650. I know they have a hard time selling above $500, but $440 is a good price. My interest being perked, I checked the caliber and it is a 243 Winchester. It just so happens that I have a gap in my collection between the .22s (204 Ruger, 223, 222 mag, etc) and my 260 Rem ( also a SBS). I then realized it had a decent Nikon BDC scope on it, that was missing a side adjustment cap. I looked through it and everything was fuzzy. I then noticed the scope had never been focused. I adjusted the scope and everything sharpened up nicely. I didn't have a need for the scope so figured I could sell it to make the deal better.
I ended up getting it (also got the free shirt they give you when you buy a gun) and contacting Nikon to see if I could get a cap. They ended up sending one for free. I sold the scope on this site and got a little over $100 for it after shipping. So basically, I ended up getting a barely used, like new condition, with bases and rings Steyr SBS for $330. I ended up putting one of my Cabelas Instinct 4.5-14 I got when they were clearing them out last year. I am looking forward to seeing what this combination is capable of.
