Hi guys. Just picked up a lightly used Bushnell Elite 2.5-10x40. The owner told me it was the model Bushnell put out in-between the Elite 4200 and the Elite 4500. Is this correct or did I get scammed?

Here is link to the scope from the forum I bought it off of as well as a link to the scope on MidwayUSA:

https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...e-2-5-10x40-SOLD?p=16132056#post16132056

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1...-scope-25-10x-40mm-multi-x-reticle-matte

I tried to use my Googlefu, but found all the models a touch confusing. Technical specs lead me to believe the seller was being truthful, but I knew I would get a straight answer here.

Called Bushnell and got frustrated talking to machines.

Thanks in advance.

If I'm not mistaken, 3200 series model # start with 32, 4200 with 42 and so forth. Hope this helps.

It's the transition period in between the 3200-3500 & the 4200-4500. It's not model number specific. Bushnell just called them Elite during that period. I called Bushnell during that time and had a lengthy conversation with them and that was what was told to me. The only difference I seen in just the Elite scope was they seemed to be a little heavier. I've had a couple of them a they are just as good as any of the other number specific Bushnell Elites. You done good.

Yep, your're fine. I think the one you have has a couple minor upgrades over the 4200. I think it's argon purging and an improved rainguard coating

Here’s how I understand it. They started out as BAUSH & LOMB 3000 and 4000 series with 3000 designating the 3x zoom range and 4000 designating the 4x zoom range. When RAINGAURD was added they changed to 3200 and 4200 with the 200 designating the RAINGAURD models. The 3200 was only multicoated and 4200 was fully multicoated and had an extra lens I believe. BAUSH & LOMB was no longer in contract with Bushnell so it went from B&L 4200 ELITE to BUSHNELL 4200 ELITE. It is still the same scope. When they came out with the 3-9x40 4200 Elite it was confusing because it was a 3x zoom range scope with a 4x zoom range model designating number(4200). Bushnell decided to just do away with the 3200 and 4200 designations and make them all to same specs , glass , coatings etc...and call them ELITES. Then for some reason They decided to go back to the 3x and 4x zoom range designating numbers by labeling them either 3500 or 4500. It’s really confusing but they are all identical scopes to the previous models from what I could tell but I do think the 3500 models might not be quite as good of glass as the previous models while I’ve heard the 4500 are the same but they did add tall adjustment turrets with knobs. VERY CONFUSING TO SAY THE LEAST.

The 2.5 -10 were never made in the 3 series scopes, only in the 4 series. When Bushnell took over the Elite series from Bausch and Lomb, the immediately remarked them the 4200 series due to minor upgrades they made. The 4500 series came out a couple years later with minor additional upgrades and a slightly different look. Either way, they are great scopes and I don't think you'll be disappointed....
