Well that was Wednesday just one mile south of Canyonville OR, right off the shoulder on I 5...
Even tho it was 95 degrees outside, our "Homeless Einstein" decided he wanted to heat up his Spaghetti Os so he just built a little " Campfire".....
Now its Sunday.... and for 10 miles literally right beside the breakdown lane on I 5....
and to the west of I 5, 60.000 acres are currently burning.....
Went down to check it out this evening....flames are literally right up to the guard rail on South Bound I 5, and now flames have jumped the freeway and have started hot spots on the east side of the freeway.....
Meanwhile the transient has vanished into thin air...
to hope he went up in the flames he started would be too much to hope for....

yeah, Tracy, they are every where... this is just our latest dealing with one locally....
640 acres is a square mile.... as of today the burn has exceeded 60,000, and this is 5 days... while we don't have the resources available down in LA or the Bay Area....
personally I have zero tolerance for these people....that has been solidified by just having 'friendly' conversations with some of them at times...mentally ill, drug abusers, welfare cheats....
yet with all of these liberals running the show on the west coast... how much do they expect the public to put up with?
guess they think it is bottomless....

I believe that most people really don't know the extent of the problem. LA county has 50,000 drug addicted, rat infested, disease ridden, resource ravening bums. And the number keeps growing. Nobody in charge seems to have any idea of how to deal with the bum crisis. Expect more bums, more rats, and more fires.
The liberal elite are not affected by the problems. Generally they use walls and personal security to exclude themselves from these problems. However once in a while their home will get burned down too. Then you will see their go fund me page.

Whoa! You can't talk about the noble, down-on-their-luck-through-no-fault-of-their-own homeless victims of the oppressive white man like that.
Broncos are officially the worst team in the nation this year.
And people think I'm a dickhead for blasting roadside bums with a 15 penny pattern winged at em doing 45- 55 mph going down the road. Sometimes I even turn around to time the green light properly.
I look at it as a random act of kindness. That 15 cents probably covers a part of their tax for a pack of smokes or a bottle of cheap booze.
Anything for my fellow man that picked the wrong path in life at some decision point they made back when.
Ya around San Jose, homeless fires are pretty common. I wonder if the “legalize all drugs” crowd, understands this would be just one of the pending results of their libertarian policy?
John, the MP 97 is "only" around 12,000 acres so far. They are fighting hard to keep it from jumping I-5 and heading east. Right now we are lucky in that there are no other large fires to compete for resources. They've been running about 15 helicopters out of the Myrtle Creek airport and two SEATs out of Roseburg. Lots of private dozers and shovels are working to build a containment line to the west. But the fire is spotting up to a 1/2 mile. About 500 homes are under Level 2 evac conditions. It was gratifying last night to hear the IC clearly state that their mission is to suppress this fire, not just manage it. As you know, the winds are pumping lots of smoke into the Rogue Valley - for the third summer in a row. Since this fire started at 10 pm at the base of a very steep and rocky hill, it had a head start on suppression efforts, especially as it burned quickly into an old fire scar - with lots of downed, dried trees. Really tough to control a fire with boulders and tree stumps on fire rolling down on you.
There is some horrible steep thick country around Canyonville, I don't see them getting a handle on this one any time soon. Air drops in country like that are not very effective and dozer lines are beyond difficult. Further down I-5 we had the Boles fire in Weed Ca, 2014, 150 homes, 8 commercial building, severe damage to Roseburg Lbr Co....homeless parolee fresh out of prison. 2018, Klamathon fire, Hornbrook Ca, 80 homes and ranches, 1 fatal , 3 firefighters injured, 38,000 acres. Some guy from San Francisco, a guest of the landowner, burning debris on a hot windy day, adjacent to a marijuana grow. He was charged with manslaughter, prolly serve 3 years. Under current law, punishment for arson is very light.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
