Pie for a pie auction. A church pie auction, an annual fund raiser after a service at the Chautauqua building.
My wife makes a couple every year. Northwoods blueberry will be one. Ideas for pies?

Peach pies are great. Judy thinks there will be several peach pies at the auction. Rhubarb is good, and my wife makes a rhubarb custard pie that is more than good. Our patch is mostly too woody now.

I'm a huge fan of chess pie (with a little corn meal for the top crust), fudge pie, lemon pie, french silk pie (a cold pie).....

As good as a meat pie can be Paul, it would not have much keeping time. Having said that, a steak, and kidney pie might cause a small mummer in the crowd. I doubt if it would be a top seller however.

All fruit pies need to have a consistency that allows them to retain their integrity when cut and removed from the pan. They should not lose all of the filling out the sides of the slice.

Last two pies that I made were both blubarb - blueberry/rhubarb. The flavors compliment each other.

There is no such thing as a bad pie, just poor appetite.

We're heading to Lake Superior, to a buddies camp, tomorrow for a 4 day weekend.
We'll pick up 2 - 3 pies in Upsala, from the gas station - Homemade, old school.
Probably a french apple, an apple rhubarb or Rhubarb strawberry & a sour cherry !
Anyone passing through there, should stop & buy a pie, they are fantastic, although not cheap !
Paul.

There is no such thing as a bad pie, just poor appetite. Thats not quite true. You could starve me to death on Rhubarb.
