Up for sale is a very nice shotgun for shooting single target trap events.
These shotguns had special work done on all the barrels and are known for excellent patterns. Non Monte Carlo stock. Unaltered in any way from factory. I am listing this for a friend of mine who isn't familiar with selling on line.
30" barrel special choke from factory. This shotgun is well known in the trapshooting world. There were only 5500 of these made. It has the gas system much like the 1100 to remove the recoil.
I will handle the transaction to the buyer through my FFL to your FFL. I have several pictures that I can send by email. I have inspected the shotgun and it has been thoroughly cleaned and the gas system cleaned and polished.
He is having another surgery on his back and will retire from trapshooting and is thinning out his shooting irons as his health will not allow it. So no trades please.
He would like $750 plus the ride.
Thanks for reading the long winded post.

A Model 870 is a pump shotgun. What gas system do you mean...a recoil-reduction mechanism?

Yes as the title says it is an 870 competition.
Not the same animal as an 870 wingmaster.
Single shot and has an internal recoil reduction system. Made in the early 80's

I have one and shoot it in our local trap league. These are nice shotguns and the 1100 gas system in the magazine tube indeed softens the recoil.

My father had one of these, it was a nice, soft shooting trap gun, far less recoil than regular 870.He used to shoot 2 3/4 dram light loads for 16 yd targets to also reduce the repeated recoil and did very well in competition.

The recoil system from the Rem 870 competition will make 1 1/8 oz trap load feel like a 7/8 oz 12 gauge load or 20 gauge factory target load.

Shoot 25 rounds in about 5 minutes, then do it 3 more times, and the last 50 rounds is doubles. Trapshooters don't develop a flinch and have release triggers installed for stihs and giggles.

Yep, shoot 200-300 rounds a day in competition and it adds up. Not so much physically as it does subconciously. After awhile some of us develop a flinch that can cost us a couple targets out of 100. I have to use a release trigger and soft shooting shotguns. And be advised I've done culling in Africa with a .375, so I'm not adverse to recoil onsie-twosie-threesie. It's repetitive thumps that caused me issues.

These are pretty rare. I had one of these a while back. It shot really nice. 600 to 700 rounds a weekend is not uncommon for trap shooters. I shot 600 rounds last weekend and could shoot again today, but my guns fit me and weigh 9 lbs plus.
