Ever notice the typical liberal method of operation ? .... Run someplace into the ground for years with asinine social programs, fiscal malfeasance, sanctuary city B.S., and general mismanagement and then; when it predictably becomes a chithole just blame it on everything and everybody else. Because it's NEVER their fault. Don’t forget all of the puke resident voters that can’t take it anymore and move to another state, then continue to vote for the same people and policy’s that [bleep] up the state they were in.

doesn't the weather suck ass in queer town? it has every one of the dozen or so times i've been there. weird place to be homeless if you asked me. which no one did.

I mean....SF is sanctuary city.....right? In the last few years of being the Homeless Outreach/Liason/ whatever the trendiest title is today Officer, I have talked with at least 300 different homeless bums. I know three were from Texas. One is here for the drugs and the lack of enforcement; though now he is here for the cancer treatments. Another, a much younger man from Plano, told me that he had searched the internet for cities with the best benefits and San Francisco came in near the top. So he was living in his car for thirty days so he could establish residency and apply for said benefits. And being a Sanctuary City, he did not have to provide any identification. As soon as that hit, he was off to Portland to to do the same and collect all the dope money he could get. Meth, heroin, and McDonald's can get expensive. The third is a poor soul from an abusive family, now trying to take care of her adult (28 year old) severely schizophrenic son. She "needs" her boyfriend to help here with the adult son, but he often beats her up for more meth money. I have caught him after the fact a couple of times but she won't press charges as she feels she needs his "help". The vaunted Homeless Coalition is no help either. Oh, the Homeward Bound bus trip is very popular, especially around Christmas. One young addict raved about using four times already. Another older vagrant couple tour the country via free bus rides out of town.

San Francisco's homeless aka "hippies" do indeed come from all over to take advantage of the "free" life. The issue is that the people who made it that way are moving to Texas. That's a problem for California AND Texas.
The only thing worse than a liberal is a liberal that thinks they're a conservative.

Newsome is completely wrong of course, even using his own Homeward Bound data. "Vast majority" my rosy red ass.
That said, "lived in San Francisco" before becoming homeless can mean a lot of things. How long did they live in SF? 30 days, as in the post by Ranger Green above? 10 years, as mentioned in the article? And from what pool of people were the numbers drawn? Folks that legitimately lost their homes are a lot different than those that showed up in SF with a tent, intending to camp on the street from the get-go. Sample one population, get vastly different numbers than if you sample the other, or both...
