My friend trolls in Strawberry Reservoir for Kokanee in his kayak. I’ve always been curious about this method. Anybody fishing out of a kayak?

Thanks

I fish from a Hobie Pro Angler. It is entirely feasible to troll for kokanee from one. The hardest part is keeping the speed down. You have to pedal a lot slower than walking pace or you'll be going too fast for kokes. Instead of a fancy downrigger, you can use a length of heavy braid (50# or so) and just let it down and tie it off to a cleat. All other koke methods apply.

Rocky try some lead core line on a bait caster for deeper trolling. Luhr-Jensen makes a lot of trolling accessories to get deeper. They use to make a spring loaded sinker holder that dropped the weight upon fish strike so you do not have to fight the weight while fighting the fish.

Leroy: When I began kayak fishing I spent 10% of my time fishing and 90% paddling. The pedal drive has revolutionized fishing from a kayak by freeing up your hands.
