Does anyone out there have some good data for 60gr./75gr.bullets for 99EG as mine does'nt shoot the 85/87/100gr. in the one in fourteen twist very well. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Just a suggestion but have you checked the crown on your barrel? This may explain why the 87's are not shooting well.
Best to ya .. BP...

what bullets are you using?
87 Speers work well for me in all of them.

On the same line does Anybody have an opinion on what seems to be the most accurate factory load for the 300? Is there a difference in the accuracy of the 150 grain or 180 grain bullet?

Forks........
Below are the loads I found in one of my old reloading books (circa 1970) for the .250/3000 Savage. There was no mention in the reloading manual of any problems with the 100 grain and the 117 grain bullets in their test rifle which had a 1:14 twist barrel.
These loads may NOT be safe in your rifle. Reduce these maximum loads by 10% for use as starting loads. DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM LISTED LOADS BELOW: CARTRIDGE SPECIFICATION: Bullet diameter: .257 Maximum case length: 1.912 Trim-to-length: 1.902 Maximum Overall length with bullet: 2.515 Primer size: Large rifle
TEST COMPONENTS: Remington cases Remington 9 primers
TEST SPECIFICATION: Firearm used: Custom Mauser 98 Barrel length: 24 Twist: 1 14 Groove diameter: .257
75 GRAIN BULLET IMR3031  Maximum load = 36.0 grains = 3472 feet/per/second IMR4895  Maximum load = 37.0 grains = 3300 fps IMR4064  Maximum load = 38.0*grains= 3322 fps IMR4320  Maximum load = 39.0 grains = 3427 fps
* = compressed load Accuracy load: IMR4320 powder, 35.0 grains = 2976 fps
87 GRAIN BULLET IMR3031  Maximum load = 35.0 grains = 3247 fps IMR4895  Maximum load = 36.5 grains = 3194 fps IMR4064  Maximum load = 37.0*grains= 3205 fps IMR4320  Maximum load = 38.0 grains = 3236 fps
* = compressed load Accuracy load = IMR4064, 33.0 grains = 2816 fps Factory duplication load = IMR3031, 32.5 grains = 3030 fps
100 GRAIN BULLET IMR3031  Maximum load = 33.0 grains = 3010 fps IMR4895 -   = 35.5 grains = 3000 fps IMR4064 -   = 35.5 grains = 3025 fps IMR4320 -   = 37.0 grains = 3113 fps
Accuracy load: IMR3031, 31.0 grains = 2801 fps Factory duplication load = IMR3031, 31.2 grains = 2816 fps
117 GRAIN BULLET IMR3031  Maximum Load = 31.0 grains = 2672 fps IMR4895 -   = 33.5 grains = 2750 fps IMR4064 -   = 33.5 grains = 2712 fps IMR4320 -   = 35.0 grains = 2795 fps

Also, ensure you are not using any of the Nosler bullets, they will not stabilize in the 1-14 twist barrels, even states such in the nosler Reloading manual. Les

I read that in the Nosler manual. But I am a show me kind of guy and tried the 85 gr. Balistic tip in my 250 with a 1 in 14 twist. Was able to obtain groups consistantly under 1.5 inches for 3 shots using RE15 and H4350. My 250 is not the most accurate 99 I own and does about the same with 87 Speers and Sierra's. Accuracy honors will have to go to my 300 and then the 303. Tested those 85BT's on a box full of wet newspaper(not a real tough media) at 100 yds. Due to the results of that test can't recommend them for big game. For that stick with the Speers.

Actually, 999,999 and lower. 1,000,000 would be 1 in 10.. Maybe Les meant "Anything under 1 Million".

Most 1x14 twists will shoot 87 gr. bullets very well, and some even shoot the 100 very well. Never trust a loading manual, my 250 has a 1x14 and it will shoot anything including Nolsers. My .308 99F will shoot about any bullet I load in it, and loves the 180 round nose Corelokt.
The best cure for a Savage is to glass bed the forend solid including the cirle of wood at the butt of the foredn and then run a bead of glass around the butt stock mortise. I have never seen one that would not shoot an inch with this treatment and i have glassed a ton of them.
Not on collector guns.

Thanks for your help and sorry I did'nt get back sooner. I have tried nosler 85gr and nosler, sierra and hornady 100gr. Best I'm getting is about 2" to 3". I had'nt thought of recrowning as it looked good to my untrained eye, thanks again.
