I use Hornady 117gr RN .257 in my 25-35. Never herd of a 6.6 , a 6.5 would be to large for the 25-35.

Stick to reloading manuals. Remember, if it's on the internet, it is gospel. NOT !!

There is a European cartridge that is extremely close, but not identical to, the .25-35, called the 6.5x52R. They have slightly different shoulders, a smaller rim and use a .258 or .259 diameter bullet. The standard .25-35 bullet is .257. Given the variations on chamber dimensions in rifles, some may chamber both cartridges while others will not.

We sighted in my Ruger #3 in 25-35 with Hornady 110 gr FTX Leverevolution and they were crazy accurate. We got tired of punching holes in paper and started shooting dime size pebbles on the berm. With the 2.5-5 Leopold it made head shots on squirrel size targets easy, at least at 50 yards. I would have no problem shooting a deer in the eye if he made the mistake of looking at me.

Do whitetails have eyes in the back of their head now?
