Need to move a household from Texas to Alabama. Any recommendations for a moving company?
The company we liked that did an interstate move for us 8 years ago was bought by another company, and we weren't thrilled with the company that moved us 4 years ago.

We have moved eight times, and likely will move again. My company paid for them. We used most of the major companies. Can’t say that one is better than the other. It depends on the packers, loaders, unloaders and un packers. I went on line looking for a mover 18 months ago. Got bids from several of the majors and took the lowest, they were all very close in price. They all came out and walked through the house and looked at what they needed to move. But that internet search for movers resulted in a flood of people calling that would give a price without coming to the house to see what we had to be moved. They were clear across the country and said they could beat any price. Watch for shysters.

Not sure what part of Texas your in but i've used Blue Whale movers and square cow movers in the past and they've done alright. Not sure if they're local to your area or not. Not the cheapest though..

I've used ABF U-Pack-It twice now and have had a good experience. Of course you have to pack your stuff in the trailer yourself or hire local guys to pack it in there. They drop a trailer at your place, you load it, they deliver it to your new place, you unload it. A lot cheaper than using a regular moving company for my moves.
No brains, no headaches...

Allied and United probably have the best reputation of the nationwide movers.
