i'm just curious about these rifles. you see alot of them for sale for around $600 on the internet. that sounds like a good price for a sako rifle. no? what is the catch?

I'll second Sticks reply. I had one chambered in 7.82 Warbird that wouldn't feed the second round. Even worse was the chamber was cut off center. I could tell because the brass was dented/flattened on the same side on every round.
I contacted Sako and the dealer was nice enough to take it back and issue store credit.
Good Luck

I would tend to disagree with the TRG-S being a POS. I don't like the recoil lug arrangment but have not heard of any failures. The stock while not a high end piece is a long step up from the injection molded rem/win factory stuff. I like the action alot, smooth function and BIG. I like detachable mag boxes many don't. I had one rebarreled to 300RUM had I been thinking I would have had a washer type recoil lug added but I have'nt had a problem yet (600 rounds). It shoots very well and functions flawlessly( a testament to the gunsmith). If you can get them cheap I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Other oppinions differ. Growler

Evening SAMBO >> I like my TRG-S. Just now sneaking up on 200 rounds through my 7.82 Warbird and have yet to notice anything other than the consistent groups that I've had from the start. I've got no complaints. >> klallen

I wouldn't recommend the gun in it's original form. I bought mine planning to only use the action for a custom 338 lapua. I had heard that the action is sweet (it is). It was already chambered for the round and a lot cheaper than custom actions it's size. I figured I'd shoot a few before I gutted it. It would reliably shoot every shot into 8" at 100 yds.

Great barrel, great action, very smooth. Stock is comfortable, but not well made, recoil lug? What recoil lug? Mine shot like a house of fire, but I didn't like the lack of a recoil lug and I absolutely HATE plastic of any kind on a rifle. Flinch

Flinch,
You don't get off THAT easy(grin).
Could ya tell someone(with a straight face),that the TRG-S is a sound purchase?
I could not.....................

Sound purchase? Well, I don't think a person could ever go wrong with one. They feed, function and shoot VERY well. Are they the meow.....no, but precious few factory rifles are. I have seen worse junk come out of Remington, Savage and Winchester's plants. Every gun I have bought (except the A series Sakos) has had several problems or flaws. The TRG is not amune to this same phenominon <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> You have to admit, your's shot well, the problem you had was the plastic stock and lack of a recoil lug....posibly psychological flaws (snicker). The form and function of the rifle was just fine...right <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Come to think of it, isn't that pink rifle mostly plastic....BLASPHEMY! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Flinch
