I am wondering about changes to my new to me 7600 rebore in 358 Winchester. My ideas include a folding adjustable buttstock if one can be found. Perhaps the Tech-Sights front and rear sights. Any ideas? Whelen Nut? Be Well. Rusty

How do you intend to use the rifle? I could suggest a bunch of wet weather still hunting mods that might not suit your style

Mogwai, I'd be interested in hearing those....setting up a whelen carbine for just that...tracking/still hunting in nasty weather.

I'd cut the bbl to 20", top it with a 1.5-5, get the trigger done, and get a pad installed. BTDT a couple times with 760s.

My SIL has a AR type stock on his 7615. It sucks.

I would suggest calling and talking to the folk at Accuracy Systems. Very easy to talk to and have done excellent work on my Ruger 30 and Rem 7600.

You need a nice big tactical forearm to pump it with. Maybe with a Picatinny rail. smirk

Is this gonna be a trombone-action assault rifle? If for hunting, anything that makes it less pointable is a step in the wrong direction IMO.

Super cub knows how it's done. The only thing I would add is PERHAPS to have the buttstock shortened before adding that recoil pad. Gun fit is important to still hunting, and shorter guns come up faster to your eye.

Another way to go is to fit a Williams receiver sight and a fiber optic front sight, like the Williams Firesight. Shortening the barrel to 20" is alway a personal decision. I think the 760 family is short enough as they come from he factory, but carbination is a common modification.

You're right. I forgot to mention that. I get mine done to 13.5" LOP with the pad.

I will midgetize it to a 12.5" LOP, necessary if I hunt with heavy winter gear on. Tech - sights has a Marlin front sight. It's an M16 style post with protective ears, and height adjustable. If I want color I can paint the post tip. They make a protected rear ghost ring as well. Might just use both. Be Well. Rusty
