What's the down side of two cylinders .22LR and WMR for the same frame ?

I haven't noticed any down side with mine. Some seem to think you give up some accuracy with the .22 lr due to bore being slightly larger to accommodate the .22 mag. I guess I'm not a good enough shot to notice.

No real downside. I read somewhere they use the same barrel dimensions on the non-convertible models, seem even the supposed accuracy penalty isn’t real. .22 mag is loud, but it doesn’t hurt to have it as an option.

Reo: I have a bunch of Ruger Single Six "Convertibles" (both blued models and stainless models) and for what I do with them they work fine for me.
Accuracy is pleasing for me in both modes.
I also have one Ruger Single Six Buntline in 22 Magnum only - it shoots pretty well with the 2 types of ammo I have tried so far.
Indeed, like another poster has mentioned, the 22 Magnum is LOUD!
Ear protection must be used when firing the 22 Magnum cartridges.
If you are considering buying a Ruger Single Six "convertible" I say go for it.
They are fun, handsome and useful pistols IME - and they hold their value well.

Seemingly never having ammo to match the cylinder handy when a problem arises. It isn't really a problem as much as it is an inconvenience. I solved it by keeping the 38 Spl with speed loaders on hand.

Mine has fixed sights (the cheapest one they make) but it's pretty dang accurate when I'm having a good day.

It's my trap line gun though so I almost never use the WMR cylinder.......mostly just 22 shorts at 3-4 feet.

I can't see any downside. Mine is a 6.5" stainless. It hits close to the same point of impact at 25 yards with either cylinder. Accuracy is about the same too.

The 60gr Aguila hit a little high at 25 yards, but not bad accuracy.

Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21.

There is no real downsize compared to any other Ruger rimfire single action. Ruger uses the .224" bore for all their .22 rimfire revolvers. You can tell this when looking at Rugers by taking a new 7/32" drill bit with you. The new shank of the drill bit will not fit in the .222" regular bore, but will slide in the.224" bore. Even the new .22lr Wranglers use the .224" bore barrels. The convertible is about the same price as the .22lr rimfire revolver only. I just bought a 5.5" SS Convertble and a Wrangler myself. The $180 Wrangler shoots way to good for the money it cost.

I recently ordered several hundred CCI 22 Shorts. Can't find any on the shelf around here anymore. I was surprised that they where 27 gr @1105 fps. Still just as loud as a standard .22lr round. I was disappointed because I was hoping for something quieter.

Biggest one I've ever seen let alone caught.

Stretched 36" from tip of nose to base of tail.

I'm more concerned with exit wounds than noise.

The box I have on hand right now are the 29gr Copper Plated RN at 1080fps.

To me they compare to the CCI Quiets noise wise. Maybe a little louder but pretty close.
