This is just senseless banter until a new tally tells us what is the BEST. I can't wait, so I can change my favorite to whatever popular opinion dictates. NOT!

I had to give a lot of thought to this one. It would have to be the 22 Long Rifle.

Wow, .270 is the #1!!
Great caliber, but I would have thought one on the 30 calibers would be #1.

Coyote Hunter - NRA Patriot Life, NRA Whittington Center Life, GOA, DAD - and I VOTE!
No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

All time favorite is my 300H&H, then my 280. I've got a bunch of others that I like too, but they're not my favorites.

Just breaking it down another way, thought it was interesting and that maybe someone else would too. I couldn't believe the 270 had that big of an advantage, but with the multiple varieties of both 7mm and .30 calibers they tend to spread out the gun owners over several calibers.
A couple more comparisons like short vs. long vs. magnum length and parent case of the favorite cartridges from the list (I'm sure the '06 has it by a long shot) would also be interesting.
