BEAUTIFUL stainless steel Marlin 30-30 in excellent condition. Barrel is marked next to the receiver on the left hand side with what I THINK is "JM" (at least I know it's an "M" preceded by a strange small squarish something that MIGHT be a "J").

Features a stainless steel Skinner peep sight (a $100 addition) that makes this beauty fast and accurate in the field.

Safety is on the receiver. Some like it, some don't. For those who don't, it is quite easy to disable or replace (see YouTube).

Pictures will tell the story:

Here is a link to the Skinner sights: http://www.skinnersights.com/

PRICE: $600 plus shipping. The first "I'll take it" posted here plus details in a PM trumps all - unless I post that a deal is under way.

Trades are possible, but cash is king. I'm looking for a nice 20ga side-by-side, a Ruger new Vaquero in .357 mag or possibly a Winchester Featherweight in .257 Roberts, 6.5x55 or 7x57. Other interesting items will be considered.

MR prefix denotes a Remington built rifle. If it did have a JM stamp, it was likely an early gun where they were still using up the last of the Marlin parts.

So - a guy asked me for a pic of the maybe/maybe not "JM mark" on my rifle.

I took a pic and blew it up and sent it to him. The "M" is clear and in the right place. In the place where there should be a "J", there is a weird little square sort of thing that no one, I mean no one at all, would mistake for a "J".

So if that mark is important to you, you'll have to look someplace else.

The challenege you're facing right now is the fact that Remington gunsmiths had no business building leverguns when they first acquired Marlin. It seems they have learned a few things since 2011 and now appear to have the wrinkles smoothed out. That wasn't the case early on in the transition...

Thanks, Dinny

You're a little heavy-handed, Dinny, but you're also absolutely right.

It may not be a perfect solution, but I will offer to anyone who is serious about buying, a video demonstrating how 150 and 170 gr cartridges feed and eject, as well as accuracy at the range - although that will be limited by my shooting ability as well as my 66 year-old eyes.

Someone emailed me with the info that it was made in 2013.

So if you think 2-3 years was enough for Remington to "get the wrinkles out", then you'll have a chance of getting a great rifle at a bargain price!

Nearly 26 years of rough military service will do that to a guy. My kids hate me now but will love me later.

Thanks, Dinny
