I had a Mossberg 4x4. Shot as good as my tikka. But the safety didn’t lock the bolt and once the action was cycled it was too easy to lift the bolt. Otherwise I would have kept it Never held a ruger American that I liked to cycle.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

The Ruger Americans ain't the same rifle as the older model 77 variants. They are butt ugly, but all shoot as good as anything. No experience with the Mossberg, but I've yet to see a Ruger American that wouldn't shoot MOA. Most of the time closer to 1/2 MOA. Two weeks ago I watched my nieces husband shoot a 4" group at 600 yards with a $350 Ruger Predator in 6.5 CM with a $200 scope using $13/box S&B factory loads. I have a Ranch in 5.56 and a Predator in 308. If I needed a 450, my money is on the Ruger.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

I do not have experience with a Mossberg, but I love the Ruger American 7mm-08 I bought last year. It is a very quality, accurate rifle for the money. I would not hesitate to purchase another one, and I will probably end up buying another one at some point. I wish they produced it in a .25-06. If they did, I would buy one today.

Ruger made a non-cataloged run of American Rifle Predators in 25-06 a couple of years ago, the only long actions Predators that I'm aware of.
