My laptop is supplied by my work, so I don't use it for web surfing. For the web, I use an ASUS Chromebook. Plenty fast enough, virtually immune to viruses, light weight, and cost only $150 on sale at Christmas time.

Standing at a desk top at home.
My wife works from home and for whatever reason her work security system doesn't allow for wireless connections.
No smart TV, laptop, etc., which is fine, I'd get even lazier if I could sit on the couch and go on the internet.

I've always had a tower and have no plans to ever change. I use a laptop on the road, currently a Chromebook. I also have a car GPS that doubles as an Android-based tablet, but it's a pain to use. Do not own a smart phone and will resist one until I can no longer buy, bank, vote, or fly without one - and Big Brother watches everything I do and say.
