Yes. I think it even lettered... Ted? Yes, I have one. Will post pics of the factory letter(s) in the Image Gallery later today.

Thanks for rubbing elbows with me in Syracuse. NICE rifle. GREAT to have the documentation as well.

That is not my rifle in the Firearms Forum thread that Rory posted. The serial #’s are very close.

I figured it was Ziggie’s work, but a different gun than we’ve talked about before.

Adding to this thread to keep the "engraved 99F's" together. Have we talked about this one?? Sounds like it fits in the Siegfried Rentzschke time period. The description says from the R&D shop which Rentzschke was known to have worked as well. s.n. 764145 = ~DOM??

I think 764k SN would be in 1955. The lowest 900k-numbered 99F .308 that I have in my notes is 900127 with a LBC 17G (1955).

What say ye all on that?? Be interesting to inspect. Serial number 764,xxx should be from 1955, same year that the 308's came out - but could be pre-900,000. So was it a "prototype" receiver to the 900,000 rifles that handles the 308, or will it be a single fire 308? Beautiful work on it, tho the griz is a bit of a hunchback.

The major factor of course is the lengthened magazine starting with the 900K guns. I can believe a .243 could be squeezed into the 700K guns but not a .308 180 grainer.
