Agree about the circle jerk comment.

If tweaking the spring or a stiffer magazine spring doesn't fix it send it to Redneck.

Some people can just look and see that the rails need modifying or the spring is no good. These kind of issues can baffle me where a pro can fix it in minutes.

I have had issues with Remington extractors if carbon or brass slivers get under them. Also if the angles change from wear it can create problems.

As Stick pointed out, you can alter feeding in a 700 by tweaking the box mag lips. I've done it with good results.

If the round pops out too quick, widen the lips. I put a piece of iron in a vice, passed the sheet metal box over the iron and tapped the bend with a hammer. That tends to widen the lips, causing the round to remain under the rails longer. It's a trial and error process, but it works.

With a pre-64 6.5-284, my smith milled the follower rib thinner to better accommodate the fat case. That seemed to help, as that gun feeds very well.

700's, IMO, are easier to tweak..

Do what dirt farmer recommended but go easy. A center feed follower works well with the WSMs and might for the 284 based cartridges. PT&G and others make them.

I also polish all the contact surfaces it usually smooths the feeding up.

It might be worth OPs time to take a look over on Wyatt's Web Site.

https://wyattsoutdoor.com/product/long-action-prc-kit/

While the link above references the PRC in a LA, the same principal holes true to with the 6.5-284 in a LA. Years ago when I built my first 6.5-284 on a LA, I tweaked the mag spring and position similar to what Wyatt suggests.

Thanks for the updated comments guys.....ill definitely take a look at that site. I know that the mag lips are rubbing the cases awkwardly as there is a fairly deep scratch on the surface of the cases after they have been loaded into the chamber so im sure they at least need some polishing or widening slightly.
