I've had several CAT scans and X-Rays but I'd never had an MRI until today.

I was surprised at all the noise. Holy crap.

It was tolerable but I wouldn't want a steady diet of em.

I’ve had 6-8 of them, first one 17 years ago didn’t bother me that much, it was a little noisy but tolerable with earplugs. The ones I’ve had in the last few years have all been under the influence of Xanax, never heard a thing.

They’re loud but I just have them crank the old country music and I fall asleep. I’m fixing to get another high resolution one before they cut my back open, should be a couple weeks before I get to have the pleasure again.

Hope you’re ok. 👍

Had several, have to get 3-4 every summer.

Don't mind the confined spaces or the noise, I just have difficulty sitting still that long.

The brain ones are no fun. Have to wear the face cage thingy and have your head packed in a bowl.

I have had 4 or 5 of them, neck, shoulder and knee. If you can find an open MRI they are more comfortable. My doctor said the resolution was fine for my issue, ymmv.

I used to climb in very confined spaces in refineries just fine. An MRI worries me. I hope you came out fit.

Back and hips.

The back pain is chronic and getting worse by the day.

They're not sure about the hips though......all their poking and prodding says arthritis but the X-Rays don't show any.

They're thinking it might be a side effect from a med I'm on but whatever the hell it is it's more than a couple Tylenol can handle so if any of you guys have any Bourbon you're not using.............

Bigfish....44mc...et al......thanks for the advice and offers. Once I know exactly what they’re planning I will be checking with you guys. They aren’t sure if they can get the disks out through the side or if they have to cut the spinal processes. I’ll hopefully know more after the hi-res MRI but likely won’t know for sure until after I come out of anesthesia. 😬

All I know is that I want to get back in the gym and be <relatively> pain free. I’m healthy as a horse and strong as an ox but my back limits my fun. I’ve been helping my brother with his construction business and after a day humping lumber or shingles I’m practically paralyzed but I get up and charge forward the next day. My wife and kids have noticed how much muscle I’ve been putting on since doing this labor stuff. 😁. My wife was giving me a back massage and couldn’t believe how much muscle I’ve got in my shoulders and my 17 year old told me the other day that my biceps are “huge”. I’m able to build and maintain muscle but with my back I can only work my upper body which doesn’t help climbing hills. I feel like my lower body and core are weaker than ever while my upper body is stronger than ever. I want to get everything back in balance. I had both shoulders repaired, a total of 21 torn muscles between both shoulders, and my back is next.

To be totally honest......it scares the living hell out of me to have this surgery but I’m not going to live my life in constant pain so I don’t have a choice. I’ve been dealing with this pain for years and I’m tired of it.

If your getting your back cut open be damn sure of your docs capabilities. I had back surgery 5 years ago and I'm still healing but it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I had one a few years ago on my knee. I’m not claustrophobic but I about lost my mind the last 5 min as well. I need one on my shoulder now, but going to put it off until late winter as long as I can still put my coat on.
