I picked up a older Remington 870 wingmaster in 16ga that has a 28in Vent Rib barrel. Trying to decide if im gonna let it go but for the life of me i cant figure out a value. When I checked ended auctions on gunbroker there are very few with the vent rib barrel and they are bringing pretty big money for a 870 but all the ones i saw were practically mint condition, none had much wear. Mine on the other hand has been a hunter. The wood shows a few scratches. The barrel blueing looks nice but on the lower parts of the reciever around the edges and loading gate show graying. Id say overall 80-85%. Any ideas on value? Thanks

I’ve sold a few of these. Northeast seems to pay a little better. I’ve seen these sell in that shape for $350-450. If it were 95% or better you could see upwards of $600

I'd probably be a buyer around $300 , might be worth more though. Full choke?

I know I looked a long time to find mine. It is a modified choke and that’s what I wanted. If you are going to sell it I would be interested.

If the vent rib barrel is in good shape it alone will bring 250-300, hard to find and people are looking for them to put on guns to complete collections. And the rest would bring 150-200 in the shape it's in, because someone would buy it and put a cheap plain barrel on it and hunt with it. So that puts it btween 400-500 just parting it out. So I'd would say with a vent rib barrel as a hunter at least 400. Used plain barrel 16ga wingmasters usually sell 300-350. If you were local I'd be happy paying 350 for the shorgun just to have the barrel, but I think it would bring more. Imho. Good luck

What year was it made? Does it have the round foerarm. I have one made in 53 that has a round corncob looking forearm. Hard to find in good condition.

I was walking around a local gun show several years ago and walked by a Rem. 870 pump. I got to thinking about it and went back to look at it and was really surprised. It was an early 870 12 ga. with the milled into the barrel rib type sight and near mint condition. It had a 28" barrel with modified choke. They were asking $250. and I offered $200. and they accepted. I filled out the paperwork and brought it home. I think that it is first year production. It does not have the corn cob stock but checkered stock. It is a beauty.

In 1960 when I was 11 years old I foolishly traded my Model 870 20 gauge with the ringed forearm for something I can't even remember now. I've been looking for the same gun for years and recently found one in like new condition. I could never take the bulbous forearm that they now have. I'm a 70 year old happy camper now.

16ga 870’s in that condition bring around $350 to $400 here. 12 ga & 20 ga versions bring more.
