Just saw a Facebook video of my 4 year old great grandson (pre school) recite the Pledge of Allegiance! He never stumbled, recited it all and...... correctly said “indivisible”! I was pretty darn impressed! memtb

Thanks, but I can’t take any credit! He’s 1600+ miles away, and I don’t get to see him very often. His great grandmother from the other side of the family is doing a great job with him! He’s quite the “little man”! memtb

Son, son, son? Daughter, son, son?

Not that it matters. You played a hand in it!

I don't mind at all reciting the pledge. However, I remain silent at the word "indivisible" because there is absolutely NOTHING in the Constitution that addresses this. We have a constitutional republic government by the consent of the the people. This is a union of sovereign states that have granted the federal government certain powers. It does specifically state that all powers not specifically granted to the federal government are reserved for the people. I am not advocating anything, but for the notion of being indivisible to be accurate, the Constitution needs to be so amended.

BTW -- Congratulations to the OP and his grandson! That is quite an accomplishment for a 4 year old. My 5 year old grandson could not do such.

What does the Pledge of Allegiance have to do with the Constitution?

"I pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands"

Here the Pledge reciter pledges allegiance to the US Flag and the Republic.

"one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."

Here the pledge reciter recognizes the fact that under God's good grace the Nation is indivisible and all people will receive Freedom and Justice,

The pledge has nothing to do with the Constitution.

The constitution establushed "the Rupublic for Which it Stands"!
So the Constitution has everything to do with it.
You pledge to our constitutional republic, no other.

That said, I don't understand fighting about a 150 year resolved conflict.

I stand, remove my hat, and say the pledge.

Has anyone ever thought about the propaganda brainwashing effect of being taught
to do so in school, like most of us were?

We would call it exactly that in talking about Nazi Germany, Italy, Imperial Japan, or Russia.
But here, in The Greatest Country in the World, it is showing respect, and being glad you are here.

As said, I show that respect, and live my country, but I have been taught to do that.

Just like some dude in Moscow, Beijing, or Pyongyang.

Today, we see a different program in many places. The liberal agenda is being
programmed into so many kids, in the same ways. If im brainwashed, at least
it was with honorable materials.

Something to ponder.

Yep! They live down in Zachary. He’s quite a kid. Very personable, smart, and caring. He spends quite a bit of time with his “great-great grandmother ( she is living with his great grandmother). As he’s from the “other” side of a broken family, and 1600 miles away, we don’t get to see him often! But, we follow his great-grandmother on Facebook memtb

Stand, remove hat, recite the pledge and sing the anthem. Respect the flag like my father and his father before him, don't disect the pledge nor the anthem's wording or intent.

Went to a one room country school in the late 50s till the mid 60s, in west central Ks. We stood and recited it every morning.
A teacher would get fired for doing that these days. Sad.

In the 50's and early 60's we recited the Lord's Prayer at the beginning of every school day, everyone no matter what faith you were. At assemblies and convos the Principal lead everyone in prayer.
