I would bet it would bring closer to $1K from a true Marlin Collector.
If he really wants to get top dollar, tell him to put it on Gunbroker with no reserve and start the bidding at one penny. Those folks will get in a bidding war and go absolutely nuts over something like that.
Years ago I had a friend that did that with a very rare Marlin Lever Action .410.
It brought twice what it was actually worth.

Ok after looking at it, it is not perfect but darn close for a 60 year old rifle. The box label is intact and indicates that it is a sporting carbine. Lyman peep, box numbers to the carbine, sling added and the bullseye is where the sling stud is. Book says 58 or 59 for manufacturing date. 20 inch barrel and still has original rear sight. No hood on front sight. Interesting is in the box there is a small Marlin marked envelope with a marlin marked box containing the original aluminum hammer extension and the original Allen wrench. Pretty cool. He wants $1000 plus shipping non ffl to ffl
Thanks again

Actually, the market is pretty soft right now. I think he would have a better chance of getting his price on gunbroker.

Might be real surprised what it could bring on an auction site - even with the soft market I just watch a pristine Winchester 1894 (.30-30) made in the 50’s go for $2500😳. It, in my opinion, is worth more than $1000 but if the seller is happy with that I’m sure he’ll find a buyer equally as happy!

If you could get a bulls eye put back into the stock you might have a better deal.
They are one of my favorite lever actions.
Best of luck

I would not be at all surprised to see it go over 2500.00. 1000.00 is a bargain.
I'd rather have a nice 600.00 shooter.

I'd love to have this one but then I would just take it out & shoot it, which is why I have decided to let the real collectors go after these beauties when they become available.
