Long legged thing. Full of milk, so I suspect she's a year-and-a-halfer. Her Summer coat was shedding out.

Gonna take off untill it cools off a bit. Close to 90 this afternoon. I put 14lbs of ice in her to help her cool out.

Today was the opener for WV Archery, and VA Youth. Saw a couple of nice ones taken by kids at the meat cutter, who's in Clarke County. My grandson and his dad are back at it right now.

Congrats to your Grandson! Was factory or reloads employed?

Do you use a crank on your Excalibur? I might pick one up and I am even older than you.

Steel cased Hornady 123gr SSTs. same load he used last year on a forkie.

This hit was far from perfect, but still did the job. Both times he got a pass-through. Good stuff.

I use a crank for practice, and when I cock it before I go into the woods. I carry the rope for reloads in the field. 260 pound prod, 130 pounds of effort with the rope. 12 pounds cranking effort.

The crank for the Matrix Bulldogs is pricey, but so is physical therapy and back surgery. I'm knocking on 68, and strains heal slowy.

Good ones!

Our bow season doesn't open till Oct 1. It's still so hot that I'll probably wait for cooler weather.

Looks like and Excaliber.... which one?

Matrix Bulldog 380.

Bought it last year to give me more time in the woods. So far, three shots, three deer. Makes quite a smack when that bolt hits. I use Muzzy 125gr 3-blades. Might be a better head, but I don't know how you could tell.

Pappy I killed 2 with the same Muzzy's a few years back then switched to Grim Reapers.
I had problems with the Muzzy's wind planing past 35 yards or so.
They make a heckuva hole.

My pard killed a big Missouri 10 point with his rig shooting the GRs at 65 yards.
Went in behind onside shoulder and came out through offside shoulder.
Deer took ten steps as fell over.
Ray Charles could've followed the blood trail.

I shot these at 40 and 50 without issue. My bolts are 18", if that makes any difference. For certain, killing power ain't lacking, or penetration.

Good going, both hunters.
