When was the last time you rebuilt a carburetor ? Just got done putting a kit in a one barrel carb on my '84 F150 300 6 cyl. Only needed the accelerator pump but couldn't get that separately. Pump was $1.90 when available, had to spend $22 for the kit. Went ahead and put in the new needle valve also. Was having a starting problem when the truck had sit for a day or so. Pump spray looked a lil weak , looks good now and fires right up.

Been there a year or so...... Buddy of mine growing up was a whiz at making one of those run. He tricked out a Holley on my '68 Mustang. Wouldn't tell me what he had done.

Last one was the lawn tractor but that really doesn't count. Last real carb was the old Ford Fiesta. Not sure that counts either.

Been a year or 2 for me, but I just synchronized and tuned a set of side-draught Webers on a BMW 3.0Cs for a friend who has been struggling to get the car to run for almost a year. Too proud to ask for help until he ran out of ideas. DIY sometimes costs more time and sleuthing when you get in over your head.

Badger you ever got to mess with the Rochester 2 Jet Tri Power they used on the late 50s early 60s Gm engines?

still have a holly 1000cfm double pumper. Friend had one of those on a '64 Galaxie with a built 390. Run brackets with it at drag strip. Couldn't get the rear end to hook up though.

I knew a guy way back when that was a serious motorhead. Everybody else was spending money changing out their quadrajets for spread bore Holley carbs,...but he didn't. He just made the quadrajets work like he wanted them to.

Been there a year or so...... Very underrated carb. They are actually quite good, and tunable. Last one I did was an 82 Quadrajet on my Blazer. It was pooling fuel in the floor plate & did not want to start once hot. Had to melt the lead plug from the center floor plate screw to repair it. It is truly very underrated. One of my drag racing friends ran Q-jets on his 69 Chevelle In Super Stock/Automatic. The car ran 11.20’s which, was 8/10ths under his index if I recall correctly. The car would leave in an impressive wheelstand every time. The man was an absolute Q-jet genius. I actually always preferred Q-jets to Holley’s every time. And on Fords the Carter AFB, another highly underrated carb, always got the nod.

About 10 months ago I picked up a 1965 Corvair with 140 hp engine that was in storage for about 30 years. One of the first tasks was to rebuild the 4 one barrel carbs. They were pretty simple to work on and turned out good. A local guy sold me a new can of carb dip for cheap which helped.
