Cabelas guidewear fishing pants.

Whisper thin

Block wind

Dry super fast.

Wear really well for how thin they are.

I like the zip off leg kind. For if I’m hiking hard and getting warm, you can partially open the leg zippers and fly to keep air circulating through your crotch.

Also have just removed the legs while wearing long johns underneath to hike out w a heavy load in heavy rain. Still had my pockets w my stuff, compass, lighter, multi tool etc.

Don’t switch to anything heavier until there’s snow and much cooler temps.

Have worn them from August to mid November up here and never wanted for more.

42 days in the field and they just kept serving me well

Another vote for Carhartt Force cargo pants. Functionality of BDU pants without the camo.

Hunting pants?
I guess I never owned a pair unless older Wranglers that I didn't care if they got tore or all bloody count as hunting pants.

I remember coming home one day we had a couple of deer in the back of the pickup and we saw these two guys sitting just off the dirt road in full camo, must have been waiting for someone to pick them up.
They didn't have any deer and if it wasn't for the about two-inch bright florescent orange stripes on their camo I would have probably never seen them... made me chuckle a little bit..

I’ve been wearing the heck out of these Wranglers. $22, unless you get them on $10 clearance in a few months. 96% nylon. Tan, green, black, gray.

No clue how they’ll hold up, but comfortable to wear to the office. Two styles, one is a simple pant. One is a cargo. I wouldn’t want to wear them in an all day CRP busting pheasant hunt, but for mild temps in open timber they’d be great. Will see how they do in Wyoming in a few weeks.

I wear Prana Stretch Zion pants, but if I didn't need an integral belt like they come with, for the money I'd look at Cheesy's Wrangler's... those are close to the Zion's, but a LOT less money. I know Dober likes the Wranglers.

I use the Prana's down below zero by adding differing baselayer weights as needed.

i been using carhart overalls for 25 or so years. just the regular weight non insulated ones in the green color. i have then a size or two big so i can wear long johns and a sweatshirt under them if i want. i think they're perfect. not waterproof but somewhat water resistant with a yearly spray of scotch guard.

Duluth trading dry on the fly
Kuiu attack pant if you want to upscale.
I wear merino under both if coolish.
Kuiu guide if cold.
Wool under wool pants if really cold.
Yes, I know you don't want wool.

I shop for discounts on 90% nylon, 10% spandex alpine pants. There is a lot of variation on fit among mfgr.s

The Prana Zions ore good but rarely discounted. My current favorites are Mammut Alpinists I scored from STP for $60.00. For full winter conditons I use Montbell 3 layer GTX side zip pants over midweight merinos.

For pure value the Wrangler Outdoor Cargoes are hard to beat even if they are baggy ass fitting.
