How it is looking for this season's hunt? What are the soothsayers at Environment Canada saying about the next month? Some of my family lives in Medicine Hat, but I haven't talked to them for about a month. In honour of the snow, I ordered a tire and wheel pkg for my SUV.

Steve; Good evening to you sir, I hope that all is well in your world. This is Sunday this week, so September 29th. We were at about 6000' more or less I'd guess, but I didn't pull out the GPS to verify that - only guessing from the tallest local mountain which is 6965' and it was higher than us. It was -5°C and we were dragging snow with the front and rear diffs on the Dodge, so we turned around where everyone else did that morning. There were I might add, only faint, snowed in animal tracks heading downwards - well other than the snowshoe hare tracks - so that's where we headed. It's the most snow I've ever seen in 35+ years of kicking around the back country behind our house. It doesn't bode well for the mulie or whitetail populations which are both way, way down after 3 record winters in a row. On the bright side, it looks like I'll be ice fishing early this year..... All the best to you all in your hunts this fall. Dwayne

Sorry to hear that BC30Cal. Down here i Wisconsin all we get is rain all the time. I wish we would get a few inches of snow to kill the skeeters. We had 80 degrees, or about 27 C. and warm rain . The skeeters are legion. Every step and 500 come out of the tall grass. So much water I figured to get to my favorite stand I wanted to hunt yesterday would deb about 3' of water and most times it is about 10" for a while. I want to move out west where it is much dryer.

I live in Redcliff, have for the last 20 years. A week ago today, we were buried under almost a foot of sloppy snow. Roads sucked, vehicles of all sizes in the ditch between Med Hat and Brooks due to ice, snow and visibility less than 50 meters. I had the dubious pleasure of driving the 40kms to CFB Suffield and home again each day of the storm. In fact, my job had me on the highway well before any plows were out. The drive was interesting to say the least. Tomorrow, we are slated to reach 17C, by Tuesday, we are slated to see a high of 3C and snow again. This might be an interesting Winter in Alberta's Banana Belt!!! Hunting season so far hasn't been impacted around here as yet by snow although it has been challenging to find Huns this week. Hopefully the snow last week didn't impact them. It goes without saying that the snow melted within a couple or three days with highs of 10-15C since. Jeff

I think it's going to be a wacky fall. A bit early to know for sure, but soon! A lot of people think the freaky weather is global warming. I remind them that it's always been that way.
I used to spend a lot of time at the Redcliffe Inn. A nice sounding name for a run down bar. But cold beer and lottery machines kept everyone happy!
