My long-time hunting buddy landed a doe tag in the WY lottery, I came along to help with dragging and gutting. Came up a week after season opener, not a lot of hunters, antelope weren't too spooked. Had a great time as always though does were in short supply - could have filled a dozen buck tags. Third day he nailed a nice big doe at about 120 yds, 117 interlock through the heart and lungs most sincerely dead.

Not really worthy of a post, right?

BUT my pard turned 80 last summer and is still going strong, already talking about next year. I sure hope I can keep at it that long.

Nice little story and definitely worthy of a post. Congrats to your partner, that's awesome! I too hope I can do that at 80. Was that taken on public land, I guess?

Even if he weren’t a member of the greatest generation that’d be worth a post. I find those doe hunts to be a level of fun not possible with the pressure of a buck tag. Going as gutting/dragging agent for a dear friend who has a doe tag... not THATS a RELAXING and FUN hunt!

Congrats to both of you!

Yep DIY public land, although there was private land all around which was open as part of WY's public access program.

I think we saw more bird hunters than antelope hunters, quite a few grouse & Hungarian partridge.

Good on him.
On the other end of the spectrum, we're heading out in a couple weeks to help my 12 year old grandson collect his first antelope doe. You have to be 12 in Wyoming to draw a tag, and had to wait till Jr High football was over. Going to be fun.
