I'm trying with no luck to get my Win 70 FW to shoot 110 ELDs. I've tried RE19, RE26, H4350 and Big Game.

This rifle shines with H4350 and 100 TSX and BTs. Both will do sub MOA.

Any of you tried any 8133 in their 25-06?

Were the loads heavily compressed ?

Haven't tried 8133. I have tried H1000 and 7977 with the 110 AB's. Have some very good loads with the 7977

Mildly compressed I’d say.

Loaded a few 110s yesterday with 60gr of 8133 and they felt about the same as my H4350 loads. Hope to test them this weekend.

I shot some last weekend with 120 gr partitions. There was an operator error with the chronograph so I don’t have great information.

I am using primed virgin (isn’t that the best kind? 😂) Federal brass, so I would assume they are Federal primers.

-Velocity (one shot) was 3025 FPS at 57.5 gr.
-Two of three shots touching at 58.5 gr. Missed velocity with chrono.
-Group was less than 1” with three shots at 59.5 gr no pressure signs. Missed velocity with the chrono.
-At 60.5 gr, only shot once, 3158 FPS, but there was powder residue around the primer (thus only one shot). I will be disassembling my loads over 60.5 gr.

Compression severe enough at 60+ gr that I adjusted the micrometer on my die in order to attempt to maintain consistent depth. I don’t recall when powder compression started, but I have it at least from 59.5 grains on. Case very full at 60 gr +. I did manage to squeeze in up to 62 gr - which was essentially filling the case completely to the mouth, but as I said, I will be disassembling loads over 60.5 gr. I am using a long drop tube and pouring slooooowly.

Per the Hodgdon/IMR website, anticipated velocity was 2962 FPS at 57 gr and 3172 FPS at 62 gr max. Looks like I am hitting max on charge well before IMR’s data, but they were using Remington brass and primers. I think my velocity is good and accuracy is looking excellent.

It seemed to burn kind of “cool”. Barrel did not seem to heat very quickly or as much as when I use RL-22. My usual load for this rifle and 120 gr partition and 53.5 gr Rl-22. I shot a group of those last weekend as well - average of 3140 FPS. That load is usually very accurate for me as well, but not always consistent (or is that the shooter? 😁) this why I am trying IMR 8133.

Worked up loads last night from 59.6 to 60.2 grains. Plan to shoot this morning. Will post again with results.

Sounds like a good match. Tempted to get some 8133 but still working on R16 & R26.

So, shot last weekend and results were a bit confusing and disappointing.

M70 Sporter, 25-06, 120 gr Nosler Partition, IMR 8133, new Federal primesd brass (assuming Fed primers). About 50 degrees outside

For reference, IMR lists max at 62.0 gr and 3173 FPS. Soi am hitting max well before their max charge and below their velocity. My load is using Federal brass and primers. Their’s uses Remington

Certainly looks like some accuracy potential, but running hot. Going back and looking at my cases for the last two sessions, it. Looks like I may have had some very slight marking on the case beads @ 58.5 gr. Looks like it was as slight but more consistent at 59.5 gr, which really didn’t change much until the primer blew @ 60.0 gr.

Think I may just go back to RL-22. More speed and less pressure in my rifle.

My wife's Tikka 25-06 loves 115's with 51 gr of RL22. If your gun likes any of the 4350's, you might give RL17 a try also.

I’m done with trying to get the ELDs to shoot in my rifle. I’ve burnt up a lot of powder and the best it would do was about 2.5 moa.
Guess I’m ordering more 100gr Barnes.

It may be interesting to weigh a Fed and a Rem cases. The Fed may be thicker, which could explain you hitting max with Fed brass before their max with Rem cases.

I would guess that is part of the issue. I only have Federal cases. I have heard that Federals are thicker/heavier than Winchester, but I am unsure about Remington

Fed brass in my experience will alway show pressure before you get close to book max. That's why I switched to r-p, w-w brass.
