I looked long and hard for one in 38/55 then gave up when a Winchester High Wall action became available. The Ruger action makes a great canvas for a custom rifle and I've done two the third might be in 300 Savage or 308. I really don't need another rifle but need really has nothing to do with it.

I have one in 450/400 NE and with 68 grains of h4895 and a 300 grain Hornady it's easy to shoot. I took a nice big doe with it two nights ago.

The other #1 was a few years ago. I couldn't find the original thread so I'll just put up some pics here for you. The features are a 24 inch tapered octagon barrel, custom quarter rib all metal color case hardened, ebony forend tip English walnut for the stock, Tally QD rings. Caliber is 7MM/08

I have only seen 1 6ppc and one .22 ppc.... I own them both... I find that rare #1's are a lot like the the elusive "Turdy-point-buck" the ony reason most people want them is for the "bragging rights"... Most folks around here didn't even know I had them. I have a lot of Ruger #1's... Some are rare, and some are quite odd chamberings. Most folks here couldn't even guess what I have... (SCGunNut: No comment from you, please... ) - GH
