My brother had back surgery this morning. 3 1/2 hours to insert the rods, screws, and other equipment. Not a whole lot of fun. No deer hunting for him this fall. Your prayers would be appreciated. He says the post surgical pain level has been tolerable. He'd never tell anyone if it wasn't so I'm guessing he's pretty uncomfortable when the meds wear off.

Thanks guys. Mine went 5 1/2 hours, pain afterwards was tolerable unless I put my foot down to hard. Tell him to walk very softly and to do exactly and I mean exactly what the doctors tell him to do. Which vertebrae did he have fused? Prayers sent!

His pain level hasn't been terrible, but he's chomping at the bit to get back in the swing of things. He's not one to sit around much, and I'm sure this is very hard on him. All he's ever known is hard work and hustling to make a buck to support his family, and now this is taking the wind out of his sales. My sister is a retired RN and has been keeping close tabs on him and his progress. They put a drainage tube in, and he's had very little fluid passed, which sis says means he's not bleeding internally, and doesn't appear to have a post operative infection. No deer hunting for him this fall. Looks like the lights will be dark in our deer camp this fall, as I won't be making the trip east from Minnesota. It's a shame to see the camp sitting empty, but he's got bigger fish to fry just getting well.
