I assume he is talking about the A bolt slug gun no longer made. Cream of the crop as far as slug guns go and those that have them know it and price them accordingly.

Fearless,
I bought a Savage Model 210 to shoot IA deer with, since you can't use a CF rifle in IA, barbaric though it may be. One (1) of the fellows who owned the ground that we hunted on had a Browning A-Bolt that he had a lot of pride in. But when we checked the zero of our scopes, the best shooting gun was a cheap and butt-ugly Mossberg bolt action, not a Browning, a Tar-Hunt, a Remington, or my Savage. That doesn't mean alot, but for typical rough Ioweign deer hunting, I sure wouldn't want to pay a premium price and get second tier performance. I will note for the record that the sample size of my survey was too small to be considered statistically significant, but it is what I observed.
Sincerely,

I would think that on average a Tar-Hunt would outshoot the factory guns.

Bearrr264, I'm just going by what I've heard about them. Believe they have the same trigger as the centerfire rifles whereas all the others have shotgun type triggers. Only sluggun I ever had was one of those cheap mossbergs,695. Was very accurate but the thumb safety great for open site use was under the eyepiece of the scope and even with high rings was hard to get off with gloves. Also the magazine had a tendency to fall out when you shot if it did'nt fall out from the release that stuck out like a sore thumb catching some brush. Not to mention the natural carry/balance point was right where the magazine hung out alot. Was a shooter though. Regards Fearless

Yes - I am looking for the a-bolt shotgun that is not made by Browning anymore.
They are good guns and perhaps the most accurate slug gum made on average. There are exceptions to this and you may find some that wont shoot well or people that can't shoot them well. I have a dollar amount in mind that I am willing to pay. I will give a fair price and even a good price for the gun.

Bayou Dude,
I didn't shoot anything except the Savage, so accuracy may have been both a shooter and shotgun factor. I didn't see them in action, so have no concept of the negatives of the Mooseburgs in action. The Savage worked fine, even though I didn't harvest a buck with it and since I'm boycotting IA, I'm not likely to do so anytime soon.
Sincerely,
Bearrr264
