Folks in the South have always done their own work.
Folks from the North come down here to escape the winters, high taxes, etc., and find work here.
Unions aren't despised, we just know they aren't needed.

5sdad,
Don't be reluctant to visit the South.
The people that make the most noise are in the minority.
As a truck driver, I covered the lower 48 and part of Canada.
I found most people in most places to be decent, and they
treated me well. Respect is usually returned.

That said, there are obviously small areas to be avoided
for safety same. No matter if you are in Des Moines, or Dallas.

Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

News flash,
Unions are disliked by employers most everywhere, & especially the north. So that question should be removed from the original query.

Blacks & Mexicans are another subject,,,,, possibly 2 other subjects.

economic growth is a magnet. it attracts people wanting to "better" themselves.

look anywhere that you see growth, and look at the "diversity" present.

and who can blame them? young, old, with families needing food.

Actually damyankees (yes, that's one word) are welcome in the south- - - - - -visit often, spend lots of money, keep your opinions to yourself, go home. If you're planning on staying forever, keep moving until you find that long, skinny piece of land sticking out into the ocean- - - -it's called the damyankee reservation. Stay forever, spend lots of money, then die. Nobody in the real south really cares what "Florida People" say or do.

Universally good guys and hard workers.
Around here, it's dairy workers. We have nearly a half million holsteins within 75 miles of here. I have no idea how many of the Mexicans are legal but without them the dairies would be in serious trouble. There's no way they could find nearly enough whites who would do that kind of work and work those hours.

If you need a roof done, I'll recommend a crew of Mexicans.

once the farm workers discover the possibilities in and near the big cities, it's difficult to keep them down on the farm.

and therein lies the problem. people migrate to america for farm jobs, and then get lured away to the big cities for service jobs.

and their wives and children often qualify for gov't subsistence benefits. and that costs the taxpayers real money.

so, who is subsidizing who? i don't know the answer, and that's why i'm asking.

The vast majority of southerners I live and work around generally despise socialism. Free markets and socialism don't jive period. Unions and illegal labor derail free markets. The old argument that white folks won't pick (insert your favorite veggie here) is a farce. Supply and demand works. We have all the labor we need in this country without unions or illegal labor. Everything has a price.

Southerners understand and love what freedom means. They don't hate the groups you mentioned. They hate the institutions that subsidize them, since it leads to the detriment of the white, god fearing, southern conservative.

Interesting sig line btw...

There isn’t a group more tied to “home” than southerners. Call it old ways, call it culture. Lee fought for the south because Virgina succeeded. He loved Virginia. I’d argue the love runs deeper down here because an attack on the culture is taken personally.

Move a Yankee into the neighborhood and they’ll try to take it over. That’s why I-95 has plenty of north bound lanes.

I do all my own work, so do all the men in my extended family, and all my closest friends, who are almost all military vets.
There were two murders in my high school and a lot of unrest drugs and violence due to blacks.
My dad taught me states rights and Robert E Lee from age 5
Foreigners took over the town I grew up in.

Should I go on?

I agree. If we as a section of "our" country stood up and started getting rid of carpet baggers we could become great again. Screw the damned Yankees that think that can teach us
