I recently acquired my dad's Remington Mohawk 600 (.308 caliber). He hated the stock on that and he shaved it down/reshaped it pretty dramatically. If I found a factory stock that would put it into original condition, I'd buy it for the right price, but I'm more interested in putting a synthetic stock on it.
So here's the question. Does anyone make a synthetic stock for the Remington 600? I'm not going to spend McMillan or H-S Precision dollars on it, but I'd like to get maybe a Hogue, a Ramline, or something in that ballpark.
Ideas? Thanks.
Steve

Ramline used to make them. Might still find one floating around. They were not that great of a stock. Very chunky real killed the handling and pointabilty of the gun. I might have one have to dig through my pile. I know boyds makes nearly any stock they offer for the 600 still. Probable be around 200 bucks.

You guys have already named off the three synthetic options I know of. I'd probably just go with a factory take-off wood stock. Also seems like Numerich Arms had some wood stocks?
Now with even more aplomb

Heard a Model 7 stock could be made to work. Dunno how much mod or if really doable.

On a 600 or 660 H&S precision doesn't make one but the one for a short action ADL is easily adaptable. They used to make a stock out of something they called fibrethane, some king of foam I guess that was really lightweight. I got one when they first came out years ago and with a bit of cutting and glass bedding made it into a really neat rifle. I looked at their website but saw no mention so I guess that one is gone. I also put one on an M700 for a while but never could get that one to shoots. It was made for the long action ADL and I converted it to a BDL which probably screwed it up. It did knock off close to a half pound off the rifle though. Paul B.

We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

For high end Brown Precision makes a very very nice stock. I got one on a 243 mohawk. It was their lightweight version. I did all the finish work and painting. Stocks are available finished or unfinished.Came out real nice, stock runs about 18 ounces all finished and bedded. Would like to do matching 600 or 660 in 350 mag. I got a deal on the stock for the 243. Cost of another at current prices keeps me from doing the 350. Unfinished blank is a bit over $500 and there is a lot of work to be done if you want it to look decent. Finished stock will set you back over a grand.
