Early 250-3000 in the first, and it looks like a 1920 in the 2nd to me as well. Great photos!

No need for an emergency room; have your buddy sew it up with a harness needle and horse tail hair for thread. Pour some home-made liquor on it and go back to work.

I love them old pictures. They make me think twice about tough and little bullets for dangerous game (even with thin skin). Thanks for posting them. I will dream of Africa!

I was hoping he shot it with a 22 HP. Love that Indian. I owned a 48 Chief for 25 years.

Top Photo is Charles Cottar. You may remember him from the Savage Lion and Gorilla ads.

Leopard "scratches" killed or maimed many a hunter back in the "good old days" before antibiotics. Apparently they aren't exactly fastidious about cleaning their fingernails after feeding off a carcass that they have hung up in a tree to "ripen" for a few hot days....

If you want a fairly realistic image of the threat leopards pose to hunters, there's a decent episode in the old BBC TV series "The Flame Trees of Thika." Terrifying. Makes me want to take my Savage/Valmet 12 guage double to bed with me at night!

REALLY GREAT pix--Thanks!

This bike looks like from similar time period. It's at the Indy Museum in Speedway, IN.

What kind of antelope looking critter by the Indian?

Great pics!

I Tried Flipping the photo just in case the Negative had been Flipped
But its all wrong Left handed action and logo backwards
So the drive train on that Indian model was on the opposite side
Interesting

The shift lever is on the right side of both bikes. You can see the black shift knob sticking up by the tank on the red one.

Early indian scout,vs indian power plus chief. early scout has no rear suspension, where the chief had semi eliptacal leaf spring rear suspension. i really like the way the shooter is hunkering down on the bike to get his shot. I used to have a bunch of indian bikes in the 60's and 70's. Don

Bawana Cotter is said to have killed two leapords at one time by hand. Couldn't do a buff that way though.
